BLM land camping

BLM camping is better known as the bureau of land management the government entity in charge of handling public lands in many states and free camping on those lands, they are public use lands so camping on them is allowed for a set amount of time.

It is recommended that you camp in a spot that has an existing fire ring or evidence of camping taking place in that spot, to find them you can use many camping apps or google maps and check the state or area you would like to go, some even have designated recreation areas for ORV that have campsites.

One of the most pressing issues I see to BLM land camping, that could impact further use and has in some areas, is the dumping of trash, expelled munitions, etc. Pack in Pack it out these are public lands not anyone’s personal garbage dump.

Use responsibly so these lands can continue for generations of enjoyment, stay on approved roads most are clearly marked for travel by vehicle, with a little research you find some beautiful spots to camp for free on these lands as well as forest service and national forests.

BLM land camping is a wonderful low-cost alternative, most have no facilities other than occasion vault toilets in more designated areas, no water, and no electricity. they are primitive dispersed campsites.

Traveling on a budget these days is becoming more of a necessity as fuel prices rise, BLM land camping is one way that a family can camp without incurring a nightly cost, check with the local BLM management office in the area you wish to visit and find out more on areas that are easily accessible and maps.
